Since 2005, Susan Palisano has served as director of education and workforce development for the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. (CCAT), a nonprofit corporation leading regional and national efforts to help manufacturers excel, partnering with industry, academia, and government to advance strategies and activities for enhancing the skilled workforce pipeline. At CCAT, Palisano heads a unit that implements innovative programs and initiatives to develop and support today and tomorrow’s educated and vital STEM workforce. She has over 24 years of experience in education, training, and career development, with an extensive background in policy, institutional leadership and consensus building, strategic planning, research and analysis, and project management.
Palisano serves on U.S. Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty’s STEM Advisory Board as co-chair of the Executive Committee, is chair of the Education Workgroup for the state of Connecticut Manufacturing Careers Taskforce, and sits on The Manufacturing Institute’s Education Council in Washington D.C. Recent presentations include “Women in STEM Careers” at the 2017 Connecticut Learns & Works Conference; “Building New Capacities for Defense Contractors” at the Association of Defense Communities National Summit; and “Addressing the Skills Gap” at the AIA-AIAA 2016 National Aerospace & Defense Workforce Summit.
