Matthew T. Stevens
Matt Stevens is the manager of strategic initiatives in SBA’s Office of Entrepreneurial Development. He leads a team tasked with researching, conceptualizing, and piloting programs, initiatives and improvements to keep the agency at the forefront of U.S. venture development. His portfolio includes oversight and management of the SBA’s Regional Innovation Clusters and the Lean for Main Street Training Challenge.
Stevens began his federal career as a presidential management fellow. He completed a detail at the U.S. State Department in the Secretary’s Office of Global Partnerships, focusing on public private partnerships related to entrepreneurship as a diplomacy tool in Latin America.
Prior to his position at SBA, Stevens managed a small business assistance center program at the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce funded through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant program. He began his career in entrepreneurial development while serving in the Peace Corps in Ecuador as a small business advisor.
Stevens holds a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern University in economics and Spanish and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.
